Lanturn Plush

Part 1 of ??? of the series "Underappreciated Pokemon Which Only I Like"

In all seriousness I've been wanting one of these for a long time; little did I know that I'd end up making my own! I don't understand why more people don't like him. People like dolphins, right? Lanturn's like an anglerfish version of a dolphin! Come on!

Anyway, he's roughly 14 inches long from the back of his tail to his face; he's made with minky with embroidered eyes. His mouth is made of felt because I didn't want to order more minky just for a little mouth (although if I had minky of that color I would definitely make a Spritzee plush if I had more time...). Also, you might've noticed is that the official art has Lanturn's fins as a slightly lighter color than his body; I used the same color again for cost reasons (plus, since the colors are so similar, it's harder to justify thinking that you can use it in a future project).

This was also the first project in which I messed around with wire, to hold up his light orbs! Let's just say that I had no idea what I was doing, lol; most of the time his orbs won't stay suspended and will have to rest on his head (I fiddled around with it a lot for a good photo). Makes me respect those people who use wire to make poseable plushes. I was totally thinking of trying to wire up his orbs so that they could actually light up, but, um, in retrospect, it's sure a good thing I didn't do that.

Anyway, I'm heading back to school in less than two weeks, which means that unfortunately I'm probably not gonna have any time to make plushies. Junior year of college is not promising to be easy (especially Abstract Algebra)... That being said I'm always looking forward to another project to work on! I'd like to work on an Altaria plush in the future, but I'm not sure how to plush out the cloudy fluffiness of its wings, so that'll be way off in the future. (If you have any advice for how to do this, I'd love to know!) If I had more time I'd also make my own Spritzee plush, but since X/Y merch is coming out soon, by the time I get around to making another plush, I'm sure they'll have already made one, lol. Ampharos is also a possibility, but I'm running a little low on sunshine yellow minky. If you have project suggestions, let me know; although obviously I make whatever I feel like whenever I feel like it, sometimes suggestions can help spur me to do projects that I otherwise wouldn't have done. I have a tendency to plush out Pokemon who don't have much official merchandise, so keep that in mind. Thanks for visiting!
